How many Wild Parks can you tick off in one year? That’s the challenge we’re setting, and every quarter there’s free Wild Card renewal to be won. Find out which member visited the greatest number of parks in round 3 of the Wild Parks Challenge.

With a Wild Card in your pocket, there’s no shortage of awe-inspiring places you can visit: more than 80 protected areas in South Africa and Swaziland, in fact. And with a year’s free access as a Wild Card member, there’s no reason not to pop in for a picnic or to break your journey with a refreshing hike. Even better, plan a road trip that takes in several parks and reserves so you can see how the fauna and flora change from one part of the country to the next.

In the Wild Parks Challenge we want to find out how many of our partner parks you visit in a year. The challenge runs from 1 November 2018 to 31 October 2019 and the focus is on the highest number of parks, not the most visits. Every quarter, the entrant with the most parks to their name wins free renewal of their Wild Card.

Winner in round 3

Quarter 3 ran from 1 May to 31 July 2019. Winter is traditionally a time to visit the Kruger National Park, but our entrants travelled far and wide – from the Richtersveld in the far northwestern corner of South Africa to Addo in the Eastern Cape on the opposite side of the country.

The winner in round 3 is Wild Card member Paul Nel, who completed an unforgettable road trip to the arid national parks: Augrabies, Kgalagadi, Namaqua and Richtersveld. For good measure he also added Kruger and Table Mountain national parks.

The bonus prize of a HI-TEC daypack goes to member Michael Nuns, who visited Marakele, one of the parks in the spotlight.
