Hit the green to raise funds for SANParks’ Ranger Assist Programme, which supports the ongoing battle to protect South Africa’s iconic species from poachers. The SANParks Golf Day takes place on 4 October 2019.
“Our aim for the day is to raise much needed funds for the Ranger Assist Programme, which in turn ensures the sustainability of our wildlife and parks,” says Nthabiseng Moeletsi, SANParks’ fundraising general manager.
The competition, hosted by Centurion Country Club, will be a 4-Ball Alliance with two scores to count on all holes, and utilising a Texas Scramble for tee off.
The cost per 4-Ball is R5,000, which includes green fees, halfway house and a prize-giving dinner.
SANParks rangers dedicate their lives to the protection of South Africa’s national heritage and are faced with the same threat as Africa’s Big Five, and the rhino, in particular, explains Moeletsi.
“The rhino war is putting huge strain on our SANParks resources due to the unending and expensive need for equipment and technology to effectively fight the poaching scourge. More often the needs are much higher than the available budget, [and] as such, additional funding in the form of donor funding is always sought.”
