Bontebok National Park
Travel tip: Be sure to pack your bike when you visit Bontebok. The Cobra Mountain Bike Trail is a 9.2km circular route around Mooi Dam in the east of the park.
Augrabies Falls National Park
Travel tip: Augrabies Falls National Park has a network of boardwalks and viewing decks for taking in the impressive gorge. The main falls are quite the attraction, but don’t miss out on the spectacular views from Oranjekom and Ararat.
West Coast National Park
Travel tip: Preekstoel is a postcard-pretty bay that is sheltered against the wind. There are stone-built braai areas that overlook Langebaan Lagoon.
Table Mountain National Park
Travel tip: With several walks on Table Mountain – part of Table Mountain National Park – why not venture to the mountain’s highest point, Maclear’s Beacon, sitting at 1,088 above sea-level? Take a ride to the upper cable station from where you will reach Maclear’s Beacon in 45 minutes – a hike of approximately 3km.
Robberg Nature Reserve
Travel tip: Do some seal spotting! Robberg Nature Reserve, a World Heritage Site, is also home to hundreds of Cape fur seals. Gathering on the rocks between Kanonkoelgat and Grasnek, adult bulls can reach lengths of 2.1m and weigh up to 350kg.
Kogelberg Nature Reserve
Travel tip: Your visit to Kogelberg Nature Reserve will be incomplete without spending the night at one of the reserve’s gorgeous Oudebosch Eco Cabins. Rates for these self-catering units start at R1,170 per night and promise an unforgettable experience.
