Solitary and elusive, caracal (also known as ‘rooikat’ or ‘lynx’) often escape human notice – and yet they live right on our doorstep. Join us for a presentation by the Urban Caracal Project to find out more about the secret lives of Cape Town’s red cats.

Dr Laurel Serieys and Joleen Broadfield will introduce us to Cape Town’s shy but charismatic wild cats. Their research is seeking to uncover how caracal adapt to city life and the factors that may threaten their long-term persistence, yet also their amazing resilience in the face of rapid urbanization in the Cape Peninsula.
