South Africa’s coast is blessed with enchanting marine visitors: southern right, Bryde’s and humpback whales, as well as bottlenose, humpback and long-beaked common dolphins. How much do you know about these ocean dwellers? Dip below the surface with Sandra Hörbst, who spent three years working for the Dyer Island Conservation Trust.

Learn more about the southern right whales that journey to our shores from Antarctic waters, find out how researchers can identify individuals and explore what the outlook is for this charismatic species. Sandra will also shed light on South Africa’s most endangered dolphin species, the humpback dolphin, and what science is uncovering about this marine mammal.
