Shongweni Dam

The dramatic scenery of this National Heritage Site near Durban is a gorgeous setting for game viewing and birding. Shongweni Dam is an excellent venue for overnight camping, fishing and non-motorised water sports. Keep your eyes peeled as you hike through lush valley bushveld and forest on the self-guided Ntini Nature Trail. There’s a variety of antelope and bird species, including the exquisite narina trogon.
