Bike for a cause
Get ready for one of the country's best charity rides. The BIKE4BEASTS mountain bike event starts on 19 September and hopes to raise R150 000. This year the event is in aid of lions – read more about this year's event, its history and future plans.

A community held together
In early January I visited the village of Heuningvlei in the Cederberg Mountains. It was here that I met Ryno, a local, and Abram Okhuis – a relation of his. I walked into the valley on a dirt road known as the Pakhuis Pass, stayed the night in the village and was transported back the next day to the top of Pakhuis on a donkey cart.
