Wild Family Year
In just over a month I’ll be joining my family on the Whale Trail, one of South Africa’s well known and popular five-day hikes. With this in mind, I have thought of some fun activities for making the most of our official Wild Family Year.

Big Screen Bonanza
On 14 March Wild Card members had the opportunity to be among the first local viewers to watch DisneyNature's Chimpanzee – a newly released nature film.

Overnight at the Stables
I recently had the opportunity to visit the Gamkaberg Nature Reserve in the Little Karoo. I had previously visited Gamkaberg and stayed in the Tierkloof Eco Lodges but this time was offered accommodation at The Stables, a less luxurious option, but wonderful all the same.

Overnight in Vrolijkheid
On my first visit to the Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve, I stayed inside the town of McGregor, not far from the reserve. Now the reserve has opened two cottages so you can finally spend the night.

See Cape Town from a new height
It’s summer in the city and this means that Citysightseeing in Cape Town are once again offering night tours – a chance to experience the Atlantic seaboard along with an evening picnic at Signal Hill. They’ve also introduced sidecar rides that make exploring the city a lot more fun.

Underdogs: The fight to save South Africa's wild dogs
In a poll, run on our website during 2011, we asked Wild readers to tell us which one animal kept eluding them on a game drive. The answer to this, with by far the most votes, was none other than the African wild dog (Lycaon pictus). This confirmed just how few wild dogs are left and how privileged we are to come across them in the wild.

Map Guide: Cederberg
We are very excited about the launch of two new map guides for the Cederberg. The two guides, Cederberg Wolfberg and Cederberg Sneeuberg, are must-haves for hikers and visitors to this beautiful area.
