A most magnificent leopard
All the leopards I have seen before have been fleeting encounters so this was something truly special.Lucky Wild Card member Richard Waghorn had a spectacular sighting on his last visit to the Kruger National Park.
Richard says: “I had a most amazing leopard sighting for a full 65 minutes. Seeing leopard is my number one objective every time I visit the Kruger National Park.
We were leaving the park after a fantastic three days in the bush, having not seen one, when just as we went through the inner Orpen Gate we came across this most magnificent male leopard.

We followed the leopard all the way along the road to the outer Orpen Gate and during that time he walked, sat, scented, stalked and lay down – the only thing he didn’t do was sit in a tree!
All the leopards I have seen before have been fleeting encounters so this was something truly special, and I feel privileged to have spent so long with this wonderful animal. I don’t know if anybody else has had such a long encounter with a leopard on the move in Kruger, but this is something I am sure will not happen again for me!”
