SANParks Week - coming soon

Mapungubwe National Park

South African National Parks Week is approaching and we want to encourage as many people as possible to take advantage of this week that includes free access to national parks in South Africa.

The dates for SANParks week are from 10-14 September 2012. During this week all South African residents will be granted free entry provided they have their official identity documents at hand. Young persons under the age of 16 will be allowed free access without the requirement of proof of identity. The free access applies to entry for day visitors only and does not include activities.

Click here to view a selection of parks that offer free access during SANParks Week. The campaign includes all parks with the exception of Boulders Beach and Namaqua National Park.

The Table Mountain National Park is extending SANParks Week until 15 September. The Tankwa Karoo and Bontebok National Park are extending the week to Sunday 16 September.

The week aims to instil pride in South Africans of their natural, cultural and historical heritage. The week is in its 7th year and has proved to be a successful campaign in education and conservation awareness.

Remember that Wild Card members get to enjoy Wild Card parks and reserves for free throughout the year… (one of the many perks of being a member!)

The Wild team says:The flowers in Namaqua are looking fantastic and even better than previous years. It is definitely worth a visit to see the flowers. The West Coast National Park is covered in gorgeous blooms thanks to early rains this year. Here is a link to a flower update from Namaqua: http://www.sanparks.org/about/news/default.php?id=55242
