This year the picturesque town of Clarens will mark its centenary with a weekend-long festival that extends to Golden Gate Highlands National Park.

Situated in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains, Clarens is a charming little town known for its sandstone houses, home-grown arts and tranquil atmosphere. It lies on the road to Golden Gate Highlands National Park and there are strong ties between the park and the town.

From Friday 19 October to Sunday 21 October Clarens will celebrate its centenary with a range of entertainment and activities. There will be an exhibition of arts and crafts, food demonstrations, book readings and live music to name a few. Thrill seekers can try out the adventure park or hot air ballooning.

A highlight will be the traditional wedding ceremony between Mount Horeb near Clarens and Rhibbok Kop in Golden Gate – symbolic of the close partnership between the town and the park. The Bochabela String Quartet will serenade the couple and at a romantic event in the town square, the groom will have to pay lobola!

WIN a trip to the wedding
How would you like to join the festivities at the Clarens Centenary Celebration and stay in the honeymoon suite at the Golden Gate Hotel? Write a pay-off line for the Wild Card and you could win a weekend in the Jewel of the Free State.

You will stay in the Golden Gate Hotel, enjoy the buzz of the Clarens Centenary Festival and attend the special wedding ceremony between Mount Horeb and Rhibbok Kop.

How to enter
What does the Wild Card do? In no more than 10 words write a pay-off line* that we can use to introduce the Wild Card to new visitors.

*A pay-off line is a short, snappy sentence that describes a product. For example:
De Beers: A diamond is forever.

Gillette: The best a man can get.

L’Oreal: Because I’m worth it.

Send your entry to competition@tipafrica.co.za (subject line: Golden Gate) before 31 August 2012. Competition opens on 8 August 2012. The winner will be announced in the September e-newsletter.

The prize includes two nights accommodation for two in the honeymoon suite of the Golden Gate Hotel, entrance to the Clarens Centenary Celebration and entrance to the Wedding Ceremony. Meals and drinks are for your own account. No transport is provided to the park.

Rules
1. The competition is open to residents of South Africa only.
2. The judges' decision is final.
3. By entering the competition you release your creative rights over the pay-off line. The Wild Card will be free to reproduce it at will.
